Raksha Bandhan, (meaning bond of protection) or Rakhi, is a festival which celebrates the relationship between brothers and sisters. The central ceremony involves tying of a rakhi (sacred thread) by a sister on her brother's wrist. This symbolizes the sister's love for her brother. Traditionally, the rakhi is tied to anyone whom the girl considers to be her brother, even if not connected by blood relation. Happy Rakhi celebrations to our palakollu people.
